It’s the Year of the Tiger
Well, today is specifically the start of the Year of the Yang Metal Tiger of the year 4707 (14-Feb-2010 for you Gregorian calendar worshippers out there) so Happy New Year everyone.
If you’re following Jackie Chan Adventures, the Tiger Talisman gives the power of balance (spiritual, not physical).
Unlike last year, the Eve didn’t coincide with anything in particular, but the Day happens to coincide with the Hallmark Holiday that condones the religious persecution effected by the Roman emperors (NB: both Valentinus presb. m. Romae and Valentinus ep. Interamnensis m. Romae are apparently buried along the Via Flaminia). The New Year period is also concurrent with the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, so go Team.
The same-old relative to the Eve: cleaning, handing over $ and partaking in a multi-element New Year’s meal which my mom made (good thing! everything’s much tastier). As with last year (and pretty much every year) we don’t touch the whole fish and rice still doesn’t count as a dish. I’ll skip the take-out menu joke this time around, ‘kay?
Pix later.
